Teignmouth has it all! A lively arts and music scene, plenty of delicious local food and drink and a stunning coastline that can be enjoyed on the water or dry land. Here are some of the best things to do in Teignmouth.
For culture lovers
Explore Teignmouth's quirky arts quarter where you can browse plenty of galleries featuring the works of our talented local artists. And if you fancy trying your own hand at artwork, Voyage Fair Trade and Teignmouth Pavilions frequently run workshops and classes.
During the summer, take a wander along the main promenade and marvel at the sculpture trail organised by Teignmouth Arts Action Group, which features works of art made by local schools, organisations and artists. You can even vote for your favourite.
Find out about the history of the area at Teignmouth Heritage Centre on the corner of French Street, so called because Teignmouth was the last place in the UK to be invaded (by the French).
Check out our diary of events and book a stay to coincide with one of our many festivals, from Folk to Sea Shanties.
For watersports enthusiasts
Teignmouth enjoys an enviable position on the estuary as the River Teign meets the sea. And there are a host of water sports to enable you to enjoy the coast. Sea Sports South West offers courses and taster lessons in paddleboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and more.
Or take out a boat from the River Teign Boat Hire to explore the coast yourself. You can even try your hand at a spot of fishing with rods and lines provided.
If you fancy exploring under the water, head to the Teign Diving Centre, which offers diver training and trips out to local wrecks.
For an expert guided tour of the coast, booking a tour with Devon Sea Safari is an absolute must. The ride on the the rib is absolutely thrilling and you'll learn loads about our local wildlife and geology.
For thrill seekers, there's no better way to get to grips with the local coast than coasteering with Rock Solid over in Maidencombe.
As the home of rock band Muse and Britain's Got Talent finalist Luke Friend, Teignmouth is a hotbed of local musical talent. And you'll find live music performed in local pubs pretty much year-round. The Blue Anchor, The New Quay Inn and Rock Bottom regularly feature music acts. But summer is when the volume really turns up. There's nothing better than enjoying a summer drink looking over the beach from the Ferry Boat Inn, just over the water in Shaldon on a summer weekend. Back in Teignmouth, you can watch live music spanning all genres for free during carnival week on The Den. And don't miss The Ship Inn's August Bank Holiday music festival on the back beach.
